The Wine
Magalhaes Reserve Port is a premium port using grapes from the best vineyards in Vale de Mendiz and Roncao.
Port wine is a fortified wine made in Portugal’s scenic Douro Valley. Fortified wine is a wine to which a neutral grape spirit (brandy) is added during the fermentation to halt further fermentation. This leaves residual sugar in the wine, resulting in an alcoholic, full-bodied, sweet wine.
After ageing a few years, Magalhaes Reserve Port is a wine that is marked by elegance and offers an incredible value with layers of flavour. The port wine is full-bodied, with soft tannins and fresh fruit flavours including mulberry, cassis, blackberry, and dried herbs. Persistent and elegant in the finish.

Tasting Notes
Magalhaes Reserve Port is a wine that has a lot of fruit and simultaneously an elegance in the aroma and the taste which makes it extraordinarily agreeable. Cherry red fading to translucence around the edge. Good sweet porty nose, with some red currants. Nicely balanced sweetness with rounded fruits.
Good volume in the mouth, rich in mature fruits with firm tannins which confers it an excellent complexity.
Food Pairing
Port always has an obvious association to strongly flavoured cheese, with Stilton being at the very top of the list for a must-have experience. Hence this logical bundle of Magalhaes Reserve Port with Free Stilton. Our advice would be to simply ensure that whatever cheese you do pair it with, ensure that it’s a hard cheese. Port and most other red wines, just don’t work with soft cheeses. If you’ve read that anywhere about pairing red wines with soft cheese, then rip that book up and throw it in the bin. It’s wrong. Very wrong.
Dry crackers with minimal or neutral flavours. Nuts without salt. Dried fruits. These are all good to pair with the cheese, or for those that don’t like cheese, they are good alternatives.
The Cheese
Cropwell Bishop Blue Stilton has a rich tangy flavour and a velvety-soft texture that makes it melt in the mouth. Cropwell Bishop craft this cheese carefully by hand, using methods that have changed little since the 17th Century. To allow this Stilton to develop its unique flavour, the rich and creamy stilton is typically rubbed with salt mid-process and aged for 12 weeks to mature
The proof of the artisanal quality is in the fact that this is a multiple award-winning cheese. Supreme Champion of the World-renowned Nantwich International Cheese Show in 2009 and more recently Supreme Champion Cheese at the 2016 Great Yorkshire Show.

Our Expert Guidance
The pairing of this Stilton Lovers Feast has been done for you but there are some other hints and tips you need to get the very best out of a cheese and wine pairing. Let’s start with the “don’t” for the really simple folk.
Cut up the cheese into pieces that you think will work for you. Or perhaps slice it. Be aware that Stilton will break up and crumble. Perfect slices are impossible and it’s likely to end up in lumps and chunks.
Get your hands on some decent quality dry bread, crackers, wafers or anything similar. You need a bland or neutral taste. Nothing too salty. Add some decent quality nuts or dried fruit because these are a natural pairing for a good bottle of fortified wine.
A decorative plate for the cheese, nuts and dried fruit and something to serve some bread or crackers on. Add in some wine glasses and then this Stilton Lovers Feast will be at its best.
