Fazi Battaglia Titulus
Fazi Battaglia Titulus, from a small winery in the heart of the Marche, is a name that for almost 70 years has not only evoked high-quality wines, but also that Italian Style, that way of being and living that has made us popular all over the world.
If the phrase “Made in Italy” still means something today, it is thanks to wineries like Fazi Battaglia, where tradition is never separated from creativity and the courage to dare and innovate.
Produced in the classic area of the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, Verdicchio’s Titulus comes exclusively from grapes selected and harvested by hand throughout Fazi Battaglia’s vineyards.
Region: Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi
Grape Type: Verdicchio
ABV: 13%
Soil: Calcareous-alkaline soils with a clayey component, which give the grapes a structure that makes them suitable for long ageing.
Weather conditions: There are a diverse number of microclimates thanks to the rolling hills off the Adriatic Coast and the Apennines Mountains, the rivers and the lowland areas. The vineyard is located on a hill at 250 to 350 metres of altitude, with a north-northeastern exposure. It is a unique place, perfect for growing Verdicchio, thanks to the northern exposure
Winemaking / Ageing: Titulus comes exclusively from grapes selected and harvested by hand throughout Fazi Battaglia’s vineyards. The grapes are softly pressed and fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel vats for 15-18 days. Then, the wine is left to rest for several months in temperature controlled stainless steel vats to produce complexity on the palate and ripeness on the nose. A 30 days bottle rest follows. Ageing for 4 months on the fine lees to add crispness and tanginess to the wine.
Tasting: Fazi Battaglia Titulus is straw yellow with greenish reflections. Intense bouquet of peach, apple and roses. Fresh and rich with good length and structure. Dry, with a characteristic pleasant hint of bitter almond. The mouth is rich, tangy and mineral.
Food Pairing: Served at 10-12 degrees C. This wine will go well with most seafood dishes and also make a great contradiction to the “red wine with cheese” clique and pairs well with any soft cheese.
