Santo Stefano Montepulciano D’Abruzzo
Santo Stefano Montepulciano D’Abruzzo is an exceptional varietal wine from Cantine Mucci. Since 1985, following the path of tradition, but always keeping an eye on innovation, the management of the vineyards by the Mucci family has allowed them to obtain excellent quality wines perfectly harmonized with the ambience of Abruzzo.
This is the 2016 vintage of a barrique aged wine, with a quality not expected at this price point.

Soil: The vines are grown on a 2.5 meter by 2.5-meter canopy pruning system on mixed calcareous soils. 1600 vines per hectare.
Weather conditions: The grape vines are situated in the inland alpine climate zone of the Abruzzo region. With an annual average temperature of 12 degrees C, the vineyard is at 200 meters above sea level, just 300 meters lower than the winter snowline.
Winemaking / Ageing: After the malolactic fermentation, decanting and sulphuring; Santo Stefano Montepulciano D’Abruzzo is aged in barriques in climate-controlled quarters.
Tasting: THIS WINE MUST BE DECANTED for at least 30 minutes (1 hour if time permits) to allow it to develop its intense aroma of ripe fruit combined with a hint of spice and vanilla; rich, velvety, with good structure that is moderately tannic and balanced.
Food Pairing: Served at 14-16°C. Served well with rustic hors d’oeuvres, liver pâté; great with first courses such as spaghetti and ravioli; main courses such as pork loin, mutton ribs, grilled meat. Also suitable for aged hard cheeses.
